Help ID this custom pickup in a Jack Casady Bass.

I've just bought this wonderful Silver Burst Jack Casady Bass with a custom pickup installed. 

The seller did not know who or where the pickup was made.

Does any Basschatter know where it came from?

It's a single coil as far as I know with wooden sides and ebony top?

Did this bass belong to you?

Could be any Jazz Bass pickup in a custom cover. The best way to tell would probably be to unscrew the pickup window and see what the pickup looks like from below. It looks very nicely and expertly made! I love the silverburst too.

It is encased in wood with no makers mark unfortunately.

It sounds great.

I agree it could be a standard Jazz pickup in a fancy case.
