songofthewind
It seems to me that the BB style Yamaha's get all the love on here, but I do like the BBG's and BBN's as well. I thought it might be nice to start a thread showing of these lovely things, and so I'll start things off by showing my own. Please feel free to add you own pix and your untrammelled adulation for these great basses. 29E848C6-E67A-4963-84EF-CA2E2A7FB40A.heic

Maude
I sold my BBG5s a few months ago. I bought it new in 1999 and it was my only bass for ten years. Then for various reasons I went back to playing four strings and it just wasn't getting used enough, but I just didn't want to sell as it's a far better bass than it's monetary value. I eventually sold it as the reality is I'll probably never play it again.

TheGreek
Just had a quick play - man, this is a nice bass. Not sure what the string spacing is but it's easier to play than my other 5ers. Seems the reputation is well deserved...

songofthewind
Gosh, I’d forgotten that I started this thread. Now I’m gassing for a BBG5. And I don’t even like five string basses. Nasty confusing things.
TheGreek
There's a nice blue one on gumtree. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/yamaha-bbg5s-bass-guitar-5-string-in-excellent-condition/1409985180 Edited July 30, 2021 by TheGreek
songofthewind
The blue one is nice, but £325 seems a bit stiff.

That's the only problem when selling a Yammy, they're usually far better basses than the their monetary value would imply. That's why I held onto my black BBG5S above for so long even though I don't play five strings anymore. I sold it last year for £250 which I thought was quite good.
