stewblack Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Coming soon (about 3 weeks) a kind of upside down neck Thunderbirdish shaped thing. It's the same finish as the utterly stunning p bass I bought from Thomann a while ago... 12 Quote
ezbass Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 That lower horn looks very familiar; Schecter? Whatever it’s a rip-off of, I like it. 1 Quote
DarkHeart Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Its a shame they decided on a 3 point bridge otherwise It might have been a bit more tempting. Quote
stewblack Posted September 20, 2020 Author Posted September 20, 2020 The finish on the P is very very nice. If this is as good, I know it's expensive, but even so. My only concern is neck dive. I read the standard version of this suffers. Assuming this is merely a refinish and not a whole new beast then that is a deal breaker for me. Quote

Put an extra strap button on the heel and use a wide suede backed strap. 1 Quote
Bassfinger Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 Is it active? How much? Why am I so excited? Quote

Musicman20 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Putting Epiphone prices to shame! Quote
Bassfinger Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 It looks absolutely spot on in that finish. Quote
rushbo Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Sigh. I wish I was cool enough to play one of those. Quote
Grahambythesea Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I wish they’d offer it with an up the right way neck, the tuners pointing down looks really awkward. Quote
Rich Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I agree. I like everything except the reverse headstock. i hate them. Quote

NancyJohnson Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 That's a particularly nasty looking bass. Quote

Yeah I know what you mean, but on the other hand I don't own a bass with a reverse headstock, so there's as good a reason as any! 2 Quote
Bassfinger Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 (edited) I believe it is active. The TB-70VS is active, and this looks the same but with a black finish. Edited September 23, 2020 by Bassfinger Quote
stewblack Posted September 23, 2020 Author Posted September 23, 2020 I suppose you're all expecting me to buy one just so that I can tell you what it's like. 2 Quote
Bassfinger Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I'm half tempted to buy one in burst. Quote

Muzz Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 I'm always surprised that people still copy that godawful bridge...OK, a Gotoh-type might not be exactly vintage-looking, but there's enough changes to that bass overall to allow for it... Quote
stewblack Posted September 25, 2020 Author Posted September 25, 2020 @Muzz I've been meaning to ask for a while now. I often read here how poor these bridges are, but I'm too technically deficient to understand whats wrong with them. In fact bridges in general are a bit of a closed book to me. I understand the problem with them bending or lifting, but otherwise don't know what makes a good or bad one. I am commissioning a builder soon so I need to swat up on all of this. Quote
Bassfinger Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 I've heard those bridges make intonation a bit tricky, but have no experience of it myself. Quote
