stewblack
The qtb part refers to the finish. There's a black one, a white one, and the one I have which has a subtle purple quilting effect. TheLowDown
The finish is actually brown even though it looks red. The progressive series is old but I like them. So much so that i bought 3 of them. They're really lightweight, flexible with the pickups, and can provide a good upgrade platform if necessary. There seems to be an issue with them eating batteries though, and I've noticed that with some of mine, so I only use with in passive mode. I think the feel of them is fantastic though, and awesome value for money.

Tbh, in the video review posted above, I think the 4 sounds better than a lot of the actual MM reviews sound. Which isn’t to say the bass itself sounds better, but it shows it’s capable of sounding perfectly fine.

I can say I put a Lidl rechargeable 9v in mine sometime early this year and when I picked it up today it was still fine.

Yup, well it didn't happen all the time but I'd noticed it at least once.

Basscabman
Is the Harley Benton MB4 In sunburst the same spec as the matt black one? (Apart from the maple neck)
Bassfinger
In the pictures the standard MB4 looks fractionally different to the black one...pickup in a slightly different position, slightly different shape to the pickguard. I don't know if theats an old pic that Thomann are using or if it really is different to the black one. Certainly theyre both Basswood, same pickups, etc. Edited December 1, 2020 by Bassfinger
TheLowDown
I've heard that the pics that they use are slightly different to the bass that you receive due to legal considerations.

What legal considerations would that be ? Thomann's a multi million concern not some fly by night Ali Express vendor.

Bassfinger
I think its probably just an olde picture. I can't see why they'd make a fractionally different version of the same instrument solely so they couldmpaint it black. Is there a burst MB4 owner out there who could slap up a pic? stewblack
When you factor in the high end of their range, which I've been to mean to try yet, I'd say quite a few!

Pea Turgh
I really fancy trying their 6 string bass. Doesn’t look like it only costs £300-odd. Anyone tried one? Edited December 2, 2020 by Pea Turgh Added pretty pic
