yorks5stringer
So people can come up to you after a gig and ask you why? I believe with fanned frets it makes a difference, but there is another source of info in Sussex who may know( and must remain un-named), as he does wild and wacky things with pickups....
Count Bassy
I iamgine that so that the low strings sound a bit more bassy and the higher strings have a bit more "Zing".
Paul S
I had one, briefly, in black. Bought it in from Japan when it was cheap so to do. Nice bass... sold along with all the other nice basses I owned

Happy Jack
In all fairness, having wonky pickups sometimes costs £7222 (at today's exchange rate).

Nibody
The Washburn XS-5 I owned was the same but J J. Always thought it wierd as my XS-4 (the 4 string variant) has normally positioned P/J's Edited September 28, 2020 by Nibody
bassbiscuits
I expect it's because the string spacing on the smaller model isn't standard, and so instead of making different pickups just for this model, they've set the regular ones at an angle to match the string spacing. Same as EVH did using a Gibson PAF humbucker to match the Fender string spacing on Frankenstrat.

I could understand if they tilted them upwards to balance out the tone of the DG coil being closer to the bridge but this makes no sense, still a nice looking bass though
