It was really good, in my opinion, if a bit heavy. Played great, well finished. Good value for money. GAS made me sell it. 1 Quote

songofthewind Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 BTW, I just HAD to change the shape of the headstock slightly, so it didn't quite have that Sam Eagle from The Muppet Show look. Quote

Had a look at mine tonight as there was some earthing buzzing and found the paint has already been scratched off on the underside of the bridge. However the earth wire was quite thin and flat against the wooden body so I don't think it was earthing as well as it could so twisted it to double the thickness which has improved it. Quote

Of all the visual aspects of a bass, headstock shape is a real deal breaker for me, so I know what you mean. I am really lucky because I like the HB headstock. Not having the skills to reshape it I'd be stuck. The Gear 4 Music headstock basically saves me money (see also G&L, Bite, Kramer etc etc) 1 Quote

Lovely! At one time I could have matched that set but I sold the T-Bird. You could be H. B. Tbirdntalman, has a ring to it ☺ Quote

Geek99 Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 That’s nice, I’m not a fan of black hardware but it looks unbeatable for the money Quote

As for the tuners, a little vaseline on the spindle/cogs and they'll turn much better. Cheap tuners don't get lubricated, so it's metal rubbing on metal, which is why they're tough to turn. Just put Wilkinson alnicos in mine today. £22 and a massive improvement. much more clarity, much nicer top end and play far better with a bit of dirt 1 Quote

Bobo_08 Posted March 15, 2021 Author Posted March 15, 2021 Hi All, I'M thinking of swapping out the stock pick-guard on my HB PB-20 SBK, thinking an anodised gold one would look great! Does anyone know which brands will fit? Cheers Quote
hooky_lowdown Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 None, even HB's own brand pickguards don't fit. There is a vid on YouTube of a guy with the same bass fitting a black HB pickguard, and encountering problems. 1 Quote
Bobo_08 Posted March 15, 2021 Author Posted March 15, 2021 This is a disappointment 😪 I suppose, I could always buy some material and trace around my existing pickguard. Quote
PaulThePlug Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 think there is a bloke on ebay from scotland iirc... not cheap mind...... Quote
