Zoom B1 ON Vs B1 Four Vs B1X four

I have a B1 ON and wonder if anyone has experience of that and the Four series. Is it worth upgrading and is the X version worth having and why?

I have both but not the X version. 

Yes it is definitely an upgrade. Better quality, and a much easier to use and set up. 

There are control knobs for overall volume and tone so no menu diving. You can use it as  five separate stomps as well as patches. Altering the effects parameters is a breeze compared with the B1on. Again those knobs rather than menu diving. 

Second hand mine cost me £45, the HPF alone makes it worth twice that.

Be aware thou that you’ll lose some effects; the B1 ON has more synths than the later models - part of the reason I ‘downgraded’ to the MS60B. Check the effects list on the zoom website to be certain that you’ll still have what you need.

I only use the synths to scare the guitarists. I need  a bit of drive, a touch of octaver and a litle chorus. I also use the  pitch shifter to play along to songs that we play in a different key. Oh and the tuner on the B1ON is superb fantastic responsed time.

I see they updated the firmware in July. What did that do?

I don't know if I ever updated mine. 

I had better check. 

The tuner is as good, the HPF is better (well, easier to use) lots of options for the effects you list. 

But the main advantage I find is being able to use it like a pedal board. Having a row of pedals, in a line and being able to turn them on and off individually. You can do this on the B1on but only by creating multiple patches.
