Hi all,

I want to replace the pickguard on my 1990 Korean P bass made in the Samick Factory.

Any leads on a brand thats a good fit? I'm after a black one.

I ordered a Harley Benton one a while from Thomann but it doesn't fit very well at all.

Thanks in advance.

Alex

Actually not so certain - I thought so but someone I sold a mim jazz plate to says it doesn’t his k Samick jazz.

I had a 1989 Korean Samick P bass - same as OP (only year earlier), replaced pickguard with a 2001 MIM Fender one, fitted fine.

Japanese pickguards are different, these won't fit Squier or US/MIM basses.

Maybe jazz basses are different, but OP is enquiry about their P bass.

Another recommendation for Original Scratchplates.

Take your existing scratchplate off the bass, draw round it & mark all the holes. Scan it & send to them.

I agree, and I was careful to state the issue was with a jazz, just trying to sound a note of caution as I know that aftermarket plates are a minefield
