Musicman20 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 There appears to be two! One with a back rest and one without! They seem to be virtually the same price. Which one is more suitable for a bassist? 412B or 414B? Ive had a few stands in the past so i want to make sure this one is right! Cheers x Quote
hubrad Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 We sell both of these.. both excellent but my personal feeling is definitely toward the 414. It just kinda looks more stable in use. Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 So its better not to have the backrest bit? Quote
hubrad Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 On the one without backrest, the body rests against both front legs, this bit being padded. Hence the bass is held at three points - seems more stable to me, but both are really good. Quote
hubrad Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 If you're anywhere near M62, the shop where I work is at Cleckheaton, 1 mile from Jn.26. We have both in at the mo so you can try them. Quote
Deep Thought Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I recently got the non-backrest one. Delighted with it-very light and compact, and perfectly stable. Quote
lemmywinks Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I've got the non-backrest version, it's very stable (the best stand i've had by far). I have used the other type and that was good too, but there's no need for the rest. The clamp mechanism broke on mine but it still holds my bass tight (one arm stays shut) It's also the only stand i've had that held my dear departed RD Artist so will work with TBirds and pointy basses Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 Cool cheers chaps! Looks like thats what ill be getting Quote
Telebass Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I use a GS 415B and it is excellent, although the folding head is secured by an allen grub screw that does tend to slacken off a bit. Doesn't make it unsafe, just loose-fitting. Quote
