Lundi Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 First they say that like my music, and want to release and promo one of the tracks, i had to submit my choice. Then they offer 60/40 split on revenue. Following this they explain how they are hard working small team with with a big network, new label for emerging artists. And then they ask you for a donation of 65 dollars or something. Immediately think its a scam but also that they are a small label with much money(at the moment) still not aure 1 Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 I respond positively to every email I get. I now have $450,000,000 USD in the bank, twelve Russian wives and my penis is 38" long... 7 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted November 18, 2020 Author Posted November 18, 2020 I've received another comment on one of my tracks , from A&R : "Do u want a label deal?" This time not a pm . Nice try . A few other comments get removed quite promptly by soundcloud . Mainly the Russian hookers 😼 1 Quote
MoonBassAlpha Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 I wonder if the type of interest generated is at all related to which tags you use on your tracks? Quote

I've been 'tagging' the same way for years : Basschat Composition Challenge (Month) (Year) Original. If they don't know why I'm posting after that, they're not that bright, I'd say. 1 Quote
MoonBassAlpha Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 That's not quite what I was getting at Douglas, I was wondering if these spammers/scammers would pick their marks based on how the music is tagged? i.e if any particular tag garners more attention , and if so, could be avoided! Maybe it's best to make up your own unique tag, like psychedelic-Hillbilly-womble-core, or somesuch... Quote
NickD Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Oddly, I labelled this months tune 'Hip Hop' (though it's probably not), and the scammers seemed to come in faster. I guess that's a more popular genre than Patagonian Nose-Flute Space Jazz. 2 Quote

Your stuff must be much better than mine... I do get the likes & reposts from random people followed up with photo viewing opps usually from 'females'/robots though. 1 Quote

I doubt if my stuff is up to your standard tbh . I get the reposts now and again, which is nice plus followers . I haven't quite reached the dizzy heights of photo viewing opps though . I think I'm getting jealous 😼 1 Quote

No, these things are... well, not exactly a 'scam' as such; they're just a way of milking 49 Euros out of anyone willing to send the money. It's perfectly possible that they do, indeed, chuck out a host of bilge-worthy promotion material over the InterWeb, but the added value of any stuff they may (or may not...) put out is a big, fat zero. 'Bin any messages from folks like this' is my recommendation. ... That's be 12s 6d, please. I accept postal orders. Edited January 12, 2021 by Dad3353 1 Quote
Wiederholung ... nein danke Edited February 28, 2021 by The Bassplayer 1 1 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted March 1, 2021 Author Posted March 1, 2021 What's happening lately, is the same stuff as mentioned . However, some of these people give me 'reposts' . All well and good , but I ignore . I 'follow' those that follow me and leave it at that .. Quote
policefood Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 got contacted by them, got my hopes up, and now reality kicked in. thanks everyone Quote
Marillionred Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 A "professional" marketing company/label, and they use a generic gmail address and not their own domain?? Stay well clear. Probably. Quote
Doctor J Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 If they haven't got the money to pay you and, instead, expect you to pay them... well, they mustn't be very good at what they do, surely? Quote
magmalooper Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Anybody been offered a contract from "Baroline or Caroline Diaz" of Great Day Records? Quote

RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted July 8, 2024 Author Posted July 8, 2024 I almost forgot about this thread. I still get many random approaches from alleged record companies . The latest one was hysterical , from Gary Kelly Executive vice president and chief revenue officer at interscooe records. What I do find though regarding likes on my tracks ..so many are from milk club or bryder network . Some of these have a pretty ladies face on the notification . Regarding algorithms , I released a track called " set the timer to switch off when going to sleep". It was done quite a long time ago, when I was getting to grips with the recently purchased moog grandmother at the time . For some reason it's my most popular track. Lots of good and derogatory comments which made me laugh. One of the people commented about my good marketing plan,/ algorithm 😹 I am getting rather peed off with soundcloud now . I pay £10 pm . That's not enough for this asset stripping company! They keep trying to push for me to pay more . I do think about stopping it altogether , but I have a radio station created by them . Plus I do follow a few artists that I really like . Even one or two of them haven't used soundcloud for about a year. If you have any alternative sites I could consider instead , I'm all ears ..
