Alfie Noakes Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) My Musicman Sterling 4 string just doesn't suit the new band's sound, hence it's up for grabs. I would like to end up with a 4 string Fender Marcus Miller Jazz, or something very similar, and it must be with the natural ash look. Now for sale - £750. Mr Fudge Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I have a Marcus Miller im thinking of trading. Im only in West Brom. Might be interested?
Rowbee Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Always ready to appreciate a nice Sterling and that is nice. How do you find the extra pickup affects or enhances the tone?
Alfie Noakes Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 Rowbee - It extends the bassiness on offer, big time. Trouble is, it's that tight punchy sound that I'm after, but can't quite dial in. I can't complain about the guitar; merely about my own fickle nature and ever changing preferences, and subsequent cost. Jigsaws in the next life, methinks. Jigsaws and a healthy bank balance = achievable Bass guitars and a healthy bank balance = impossible

That's a shame, it's still beautiful though and I'm sure it won't hang around long.
Alfie Noakes Posted March 21, 2009 Author Posted March 21, 2009 You can - it's a five way switch, but it still doesn't quite fit the overall sound (just a feeble excuse for a GAS attack, truth be told!)
Alfie Noakes Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 .....or would consider a swap for a 4 string bolt on Warwick Dolphin...............or something Jazz-esque.
Rowbee Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 I can't believe this is still around!! Have you considered selling it and then buying when what you're looking for comes along? If I didn't already have two Sterlings I'd be snapping this up!
Alfie Noakes Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 I think that will be my next step, although I initially thought there may be some interesting swap deal to be done via this forum. Oh well, I'll give it a day, then hang a price on it - and thanks for the kind words.
Gunsfreddy2003 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I used to own this bass and confirm that it is a corker - fantastic sound and was in mint condition when I sold on to Phil.
