Just to add, no 6ers (or above) please! Might be persuaded by a 5er though

Worked this out from the Warmoth site and it comes to $1163 for the parts including shipping (i halved the price of the case because of the missing catch)

This ends up as £832 for the new parts so i guess a trade for a bass of similar new value (or more :) )?

Stunning bass.

There's a few Thumbs and Streamers for sale at the moment - you should get in contact with those guys....

Here's one: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=43125

Thanks for the compliments, i like it too :) . Some nice basses for sale but i'm not sure how many would be up for trading esp. due to the current economic climate. I think that guy in the link wants a P, is a gorgeous Warwick though.

Might give him a shout as this Warmoth sounds more P ish than a usual J-type due to the pickup
Nay one? Been offered a couple of very nice basses but still holding out for a nice Warwick to complement my 'Vette
While it's a nice looking bass that I'm sure you love, you may find that breaking the bass up into it's constituent parts might be more lucrative than holding out for a Warwick.

At the end of the day (and I'm voicing here what a lot of people have probably thought following your original post), you have to be realistic and consider that while Warmoth have got a good reputation for parts and quality thereof, it's is after all an unbranded parts bass and carries limited cache compared to a big name brand. I'm sorry if this hurts, but I think you may struggle to get what you want, irrespective of how much you've calculated the individual parts weigh in at price wise.

I'm not looking to rain on your parade, but in the last few months I've picked up two used basses at maybe less than 50% new retail in both cases; both of these are big name brands (Lakland and Fender). It's a buyers market and people will not pay £800 for a Warmoth or swap it for their Warwick.

Credit to you for having the balls to say what you want, but seriously, think about breaking it up and putting the swag away until you find what you really want.

Er... not really.

I have been offered a 90s Warwick for this, also another bass which sold on here for around £600. Also a higher end Cort 6er amongst others
I stated £800 as the NEW price, not what i expect. I think £450+ is reasonable for this bass

Don't agree with breaking it for parts either. The Warmoth necks i've seen on here in the last few months have been on a while, struggling to make over £100 and not many people have money to spare.
I'm in no rush to sell it, so was wondering if others on here fancied a trade. I think more folk than you might imagine would part with a Warwick for this given the sums they exchange hands for now
What a coincidence! I have a slab of walnut and a plank of pau ferro waiting to be turned into a bass. Cool to get an idea of what it might look like when it's done, cheers for that :)
I saw another on a Warmoth gallery site pretty much identical to mine except for an unlined Ebony fingerboard. I actually thought mine looked nicer with the Pau Ferro board, keeps the uniform colours and all that.

I think it's a very attractive and simple combination of woods, Pau Ferro is esp. nice IMO.
I'd like to add that i traded a Warmoth for a Corvette $$ 5 string recently so its entirely possible.
I got offered your old Warmoth Tele as a trade for this so looks like it's come full circle! Was very tempted as i know you spoke highly of that bass, just i'm a bit more inclined to modern basses

The Warwick i'm mainly after is a nice Fortress which i think is a fair trade for this beasty

Any change you can upload a soundsample? I'm particulary interested in the sound of the bridge pickup and bridge+neck pickup
Perhaps you're interested in my Warmoth JB (maple-satine neck / alder-satine body with Q-tuners and a custom high-Z preamp)?
Problem is that I live in the Netherlands...

I actually blew the sound board on my laptop recently so i'm computing in silence! I won't be able to do any sound samples until i either find a cheap spares/repairs laptop to fix it or sort my external audio interface out. I can try to do it on my mate's PC but i think his Line 6 is broken too. The joys of computing!

That's a very nice Warmoth, what are those pickups?

Hi Steve,
Q-tuners are handmade pup's by fellow Dutchman Erno Zwaan.
They sound very transparant; almost pianolike (high resonance peak).
The controls are: panpot neck-bridge and volume (push-pull for pre-amp)
have a look:

AFAIK it's the standard Warmoth neck dimensions, have a looksee here:
http://www.warmoth.com/Bass/Necks/StandardNecks.aspx

It actually feels a little chunkier than the other Jazzes i've had, if you have a look at reviews for Warmoth Jazzes it seems to be quite a common opinion.

And weighty means pretty darn heavy, i'll get a proper weight of it soon as i'm borrowing some digital scales to weigh a cab for postage.

I'd guess 10lb or so. It's a big solid chunk of Walnut and Warmoth necks have the steel support rods (http://www.warmoth.com/Bass/Necks/BassNeckAnatomy.aspx) so it was never going to be a lightweight!
