Baloney Balderdash Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 (edited) I once owned the first original all tubes version of the 50W Dynacord's Bass-King amp. It sounded great, was quite light taking it being a full tube amp into consideration, and just exactly loud enough to keep up with a rock band and play up small bar sized venues without additional PA support. This one: Really regret being stupid enough to sell it. Edited September 5, 2023 by Baloney Balderdash 1 Quote

(a power thing - getting power, wont switch on), anyone have thoughts whether I should get it repaired, or say goodbye to it? Whereabouts are you? Mine failed a few years ago & I found a guy in North London willing to have a look. He's not a musical specialist, but he'd done a great job a year before on a beautiful plasma TV I had, which had flummoxed the rest of the interwebz, so I asked him if he'd be willing to have a look at the Dynacord. He hung onto it for a while, but I got it back good as new - he said it had suffered a cascade fail down a line of capacitors/rectifiers [which I only barely understood] but the entire amp is discreet component, so everything is replaceable. 2 Quote

I wanted one. Because I was strapped for cash, I spent ages trying to track a used one down. I never found one!! I still have mine it originally belonged to Gary Numan's bassist in the late 80's. They are very hard to get hold of these days. 2 Quote
