Everything on eBay is a potential bargain!

I seldom see any proper auctions on eBay any more. Most have a starting bid or are buy it now.

Anyway, the question wasn't what everyone else thinks, the question was why this was posted in the first place. I think it was to alert us to a potential bargain.

Sorry I meant a high starting bid

For non-specialist instruments like the bass in question the starting price is almost completely irrelevant. Unless it starts at a figure more than the bass is worth, by the time the auction has run it's course the selling price will the same whether it start high or low.

The factor that will keep this particular auction sale price low is the fact that it is collection in person only (from Hull).

And maybe this is why it was posted. To alert those in the vicinity of a potential bargain.

Have to admit I find the ‘eBay bargain’ thing bloody annoying unless it’s a BIN, in large part because alerting 20,000 or so bass players on this forum to the auction means that it will most certainly not be a bargain, likely just a true reflection of value.

Perhaps we should have a polite agreement to not use the term ‘potential bargain’ until the last 24 hours of the auction :)

What’s the purpose of this thread, BTW? Appreciate there doesn’t have to be one, but just curious in case I’m missing a point somewhere....

I got all I needed from the title plus the nature of the link

I’m formulating a list of “questikns” though
