Akai mini play

I'm thinking of getting an Akai Mini play.

I can use it as Midi controller at home, and as a live-sounds keyboard for simple lines in a band.

Any opinions?

Haven't used one but they seem reasonably well rated for the price. I always wanted a triton taktile to do that sort of thing, but that is a lot more money again, and to be fair, I have quite a lot of things that could be used as a master keyboard!

I've looked at reviews and they say the built- in sounds aren't very good, I believe there are better options out there.

Cheers! I didn’t see any alternatives when I searched, but that might be my lack of knowledge. Probably will not use the internal sounds much just two or three songs in my punk covers band.

Still pondering!

Undoubtedly but at that price it is good, especially for live

yeah, i guess so. I'd probably get a midi keyboard and an ipad, but obvs more money

I gig with an iPad. but there are plenty of cheap options depending what faff you need

Fwiw, I have the mpk mini 1 . Really good with GarageBand , and. works with iPad if you have the camera connection kit . 
The mpk mini play has extra bundles to play with , and apparently you can use that without a computer straight out of the box should you wish .

I'm thinking of getting the mini play, or the mini mk 3 . .

These midi controllers have improved and upgraded in a short time .

Well, finally pulled the trigger.

Pretty good so far... the sounds are good enough for what I need in the band, and the MIDI is good enough for what I need at home. I don't need my 61 key midi controller now, which was a pain to store and use.

Happy with it in test mode..... now to use it for real.

I'll do a home recording with it...... but don't know when I'll get to try it with the band.
