Burns-bass
Hi all, a good friend of mine had been suffering with a bit of depression and so to cheer him up I’ve bought him a guitar and all the kit. Normally, I’d visit and give him lessons, but obviously that’s not possible. Can anyone recommend any simple and effective YouTube channels or free resources I could recommend to him? If he can play an Oasis song or a Beatles track it would mean the world to him.
Lozz196
Look online for some chord charts for which you can send him the link. Then have a think about which chords are easiest for a beginner to master, then choose a song that used those chords. I used Songbird by Oasis as the first song I taught a friend years ago, followed by Bad Moon Rising by Credence.

It’s been a hard few months for us all. One friend committed suicide and another tried. Just keeping an eye out for a mate. And I did try to get him interested in bass, but he wasn’t having any of it!

Jonesy
Whenever I get the calling to the dark side I always find.... Paul David's.... https://www.youtube.com/c/PaulDavids And Marty Schwartz.... https://www.youtube.com/c/MartyMusic https://www.youtube.com/user/martyzsongs Pretty handy. I mean, I can't play for toffee, but this is more down to my own confusion about those extra 2 strings rather than anything negative about these guys 😂
Strawbs664
Not YouTube but I found the following really useful when I'm looking to brush up on my 6 string skills. Easy to follow & a song to learn & play along with at the end of each lesson. I have a terrible memory for anything above the number 4 so anything that takes me back to basics is perfect. https://www.liveabout.com/guitar-lessons-for-beginners-1711865
ezbass
There’s a thread for this on GC, maybe some of this might be useful:- https://www.guitarchat.co.uk/topic/784-beginner’s-video-resource/
Nicko
You can get a 3 month free trial of Fender play. Might be worth a try and I'd have thought 3 months would be more than enough to play a few Oasis tracks.
