Bobthedog Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 "I could watch you play a bass all day". Ah! Sorry wrong type of bass. Quote
bassace Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 If you’re playing half notes make sure they’re the right ones. Because a minim is a long note to get wrong. Said to me by a drummer. Very erudite for a drummer, I thought. Quote
Baxlin Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 One I hate.... ”just single notes, Malc” Quote

A week, the audience can tell." That’s paraphrasing something Louis Armstrong said. 1 Quote

stewblack Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 Said to me as I set up at an audition. The band was a three piece plus vocals. "we just ran through the songs you'll be playing, it's amazing what a difference it makes not having the bass" I should have walked then and there Quote

This was actually said to me during a load out once. A very pretty yet hammered girl. I had a very similar comment from a lady I was friends with, it changed our friendship for ever! I don't mean that we hooked up or anything, but there was a different level of openness. Quote
Doctor J Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 "Bass is the tool of ignorance" - Blackie Lawless 😂 On a happier tone, at one gig I was told "We couldn't hear the band but we could feel your bass" ...which was nice. Quote

The other replied, "Dunno, couldn't hear him!" I was going through the PA and the stage volume was rattling my fillings out!! Quote

Old Man Riva Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Pete Way responding to Geddy Lee who asked him about the sound of Gibson Thunderbirds... ”Well Glee, it’s three-quarters good, and one-quarter not very nice!” 1 Quote
TheGreek Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 Not so much one liners but there are some definite words of wisdom from Vic... 1 Quote
