What tracks do you reckon the cover beats the original? (I think there was a short thread on this a few years back pre "change over" - but I'd be up for hearing from the current BC crew on what their views are!).

I totally rate Cream (who doesn't?!) - they were just an amazing 3 piece and this is a classic piece of blues rock from them:

...but having heard John Mayer on this cover, I think this crew just edges it!

One of the most obvious ones would be Hendrix's version of  Dylan's All Along The Watchtower

Everyone and their mum has covered  Born Under A Bad Sign,  so its a difficult choice, but i like the Kenny Wayne Shepherd  cover

Best cover version? Joe Cocker singing  With A Little Help From My Friends.

Next best. . . . . Gladys Knight's Midnight Train To Georgia, instead of Jim Weatherly's original Midnight Plane To Houston!

Johnny Cash with Hurt and The Clash with I Fought The Law.

Dead Kennedys version is best version.

War Pigs! I like Black Sabbath but I love both the Faith No More and the Sacred Reich iteration.

The Gipsy Kings version of Hotel California tops the original for me. It's not often I think anyone can beat Hendrix, but SRV's covers of Little Wing and Voodoo Child are just amazing.

A couple that I like over the originals. :)

'Ain't No Love' by Whitesnake over Bobby Blue Bland.

'Amos Moses' by SAHB over Jerry Reed (just)

'Ride Like The Wind' by Saxon over Christopher Cross (just)

'Hush' by Gotthard over Kula Shaker over Deep Purple over Joe South.

'Blue Jean Blues' by Jeff Healey over ZZ Top.

Most cover versions beat the Bob Dylan original (exception being “Knocking on Heavens door), but the most sublime one IMHO is Them’s version of “Its all over now Baby Blue” (Van Morrison on vocals)

Edit - a couple of others:

“Solitary Man” by Chris Isaak (orig Neil Diamond)

“I love rock n roll” by Joan Jett (orig The Arrows)

Their cover of Bamboleo was so good they got away with telling  everyone it was their own B|

Reggae has to be the biggest genre to cover original songs, I don’t like what I would call the poppy versions which are digitally remixes with just a reggae beat, but there are many that imo are better than the original, this one springs to mind, which I think was by bread originally

Tower of Power's version of Me & Mrs Jones is better than the original Billy Paul version.

Seal's version if Knock on Wood trump's Eddie Floyd's

Just not a fan of the Beatles presentation...

Some great singwriting and when presented by another band, usually has a good twist to the presentation, more of a feel n vibe.

Maybe comes down to the Beatles or Stones?

Same with The Who. Just dont get it, but a Big Led Zep fan.

The punk police will probably exile me for this, but Guns N Roses version of Down on The Farm was far superior to the UK Subs original.

"Hanging on the Telephone" by Blondie. Makes the original by The Nerves sound like a bad demo.

I also much prefer The Sunday's version of "Wild Horses" over the Rolling Stones.

That sounds just like the Albert King version? The singer is great.
