Today I felt like putting on some aggressive music in the car and went for Burn The Priest's Legion XX, which contains 10 covers of stuff recorded before they became Lamb of God. My fave track here is their take on Big Black's Kerosene as it has a really dirty growly bass sound

This may very well be controversial, but I prefer the Kula Shaker version of Hush to the original, and think Deep Purple's version is the worst of the three.

Totally agree. IMO the DP version is a bit flimsy

Anything originally by the Beatles - personal favourite Siouxsie & the Banshees Dear Prudence.

Arctic Monkey’s Come Together was really good but not quite up tonight the original. Aerosmiths version should NEVER have been recorded.

All covers should ADD to the original, like Joe Cocker and  Ella Fitzgerald’s Can’t Buy Me Love.

I wish there was a Motorhead cover of a Dylan song, that would be a certainty for this thread.

Maybe a close call for me, but I’d go with the Dylan original.

How has this one not been mentioned yet?

How come? Maybe because it is so appalling nobody else thought for a moment that it beats the original?

It's far better than the original. Even Lionel is a fan of the FNM version.

Down there with Disturbed Sound of Silence. I'm sure Lionel is way too nice to tell the truth!

Oh yes Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence a real gem.

That's harsh. I think FNM's Easy is a really great cover.

Everything Disturbed ever did, cover or original was just awful

Sorry! Wouldn't life be dull if we all liked the same stuff?

What could be better than a beatboxing, doublebass playing, deep southern American?

I really like this bluegrass cover of No Diggity and Thrift Shop.

Really isn't - that is the best version of Easy (and one of the few on here that does beat the original.

Sound of silence on the other hand is an abomination, and I like disturbed.

I always liked this cover of Tool 46 & 2

was a few years ago now but the drummer was a little beast.

The FNM cover of 'Easy' has me running for the off button if it's ever played on the radio.

I'm guessing it's supposed to be ironic/ tongue in cheek and the vocal is okay, but I can't

listen to the attempt at the guitar solo and the overall wooden feel of the song compared

with the original. It's like it's trying to be the same and missing by a mile.

Exactly! 😄

Here's another one that may be controversial. I loved this cover back in the 90's.

And a possibly less controversial cover of Of the kids are united which I think definitely beats the original.
