So, bass Number 2 sold a while back but for a number of reasons it never left Beedster Towers. I was going to keep it but I think I'm going to see if I can survive on just the one bass only for 2021 (I have a rather nice Warmoth Black Korina body that I was thinking of building this neck/components onto, but I will probably sell that separately to be honest or I'l end up tinkering again!) . Quick reminder below of the details below.

Bass number 2: £300

  • Noname body
  • Warmoth fretless neck, tiger striped ebony board
  • Gotoh vintage tuners
  • Badass bridge
  • Kiogon circuit

This is NOT a a bass for those of you with delicate backs, it is however a powerful sounding and articulate instrument. It's been the go-to in my studio for a long time.

Hi Nik, good to hear from you mate. I can certainly do some for you tomorrow, they will however likely be quite out of tune given the amount of playing I've managed to get done since lockdown however. The below seems appropriate :)

I’m still gutted I missed out on #3. Whoever owns it now, let me know if you ever plan to sell.

That will be me. Now has some upgrades too

Hey Brian, hope all’s well, it’s the lined fretless bass in the pics above. Cheers. Chris

To clarify the Warmoth neck is classic Jazz width at the nut, 38mm. Very fast and very smooth, but still a bit too thin for me :)

Crikey, I'm losing my touch! Just had a PM asking what PUPs are in the Jazz, which is the kind of thing you'd have thought I'd have mentioned. Answer is a rather nice set of Wizard '64s :)

Here's a close-up of the board. It's Macassar (tiger-striped) ebony. It started life as a fretted neck and has been defretted, which I guess is why the lines are significantly fainter than those you'd usually find on a factory lined board. Note that the side dots are where they would be situated on a fretted bass, that is between the frets (which oddly is where they are also situated on a fair few factory fretless necks as well).

And the nut/headstock

So, following a few beers just after Xmas I bid on a rather lovely Warmoth Black Korina Jazz Body with the intention of replacing the body of bass #2 in this listing and keeping it. It's a nice body, light, resonant and stunning to look at, and is of course the usual great Warmoth quality. However.........part of me prefers the older heavier body so given I have a couple of Warmoth necks hanging around also, I'll stick this and the Macassar Ebony Warmoth neck up here, because they go very very nicely together both functionally and aesthetically. As it is in the photos below (Badass II, Gotoh vintage tuners, no electrics) I'm looking for £450, fully built with Wizard '64s and Kiogon circuit, £525 or neck and body only £375. I bought the body used for more than I should have, but new it would cost around $570 according to the Warmoth build site.

And the specs for the body from the Warmoth site

Neck and pocket fit as good as you'd expect for Warmoth/Warmoth
