Dad3353 Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 Left me cold. (but, then again, I'm old, so ...) 1 Quote
adamg67 Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 Sort of thanks for that... interesting but I'm trying really hard not to go down the rabbit hole of learning about synths, it looks really interesting and like something I would get and get into (software developer and professional geek by day)... but I don't have the time! Must play bass, must play bass... (just finished a session practising piano instead, oops). Quote
BigRedX Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 (edited) The band I was part of in the early 80s had an actual 808 drum machine (at the time when it was cutting edge and expensive) and we spent most of out time trying not the make the bass drum sound like that. Beedster Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 808 was a state of mind in the 80s 1 Quote
Maude Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 There was a good documentary on the 808 on either Netflix or Amazon Prime, can't remember which. 1 Quote

acidbass Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Really awesome, modern music is so bass heavy, some really cool grooves on the radio nowadays Quote
joeystrange Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Dude needs to get a quieter mouse. Quote
Cato Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Well, I've learnt that sub-bass is completely inaudible on my tablet. Quote
Hellzero Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Well, you've avoided a serious headache, you may thank the maker, and maybe you've destroyed the built-in speaker(s). 🤯 1 Quote

BigRedX Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 BTW the same band that owned the 808 also borrowed a TB303 for a week to see if we wanted to get one now that the price had dropped significantly (in 1984). We were throughly unimpressed by both the sounds and the programmability and decided instead to save up for an MC202. Quote
