Skywalker83
Ok, so i'm selling off some other gear in the process of getting the cash together for my first custom bass. I really want a single cut 5 string, not sure about wood combinations yet. I'm planing on spending around 1000 - 1200€ Can anyone recommend any good luthiers? andyonbass
Try Alan at ACG
wizbat
I can! Jon Shuker..
Rayman
No question at all for me.....ACG all the way. Top bloke, outstanding craftsmanship and still very sensible prices for the amount of work involved. A mate has an ACG single cut, and it's just out of this world. josh3184
ACG is the one I'd recommend!
GreeneKing
I think that Alan at ACG would be my 1st choice (I don't really think this, I know this) but then again 1000 to 1200 euros isn't going to get you far with any custom bass. Just a reflection on the fact that a US Fender, MM or Rickenbacker will cost you more so custom may be pushing it a bit. ACG would be perhaps more reasonable than many. Hiya Russ. I'm assuming you mean me? Thanks. A young lad came round this eve to pick up the fretless - totally awsome player, Overwater owner too. fullrangebass
Both Jon Shuker as well as Alan at ACG get my vote. Let's not forget Martin at Sei, too

Skywalker83
Thanks for all the ideas guys n gals. I'm really liking the look of this one from Laurent Kah Singlecut 5 string It's almost what i'm looking for, but with a slightly different combination of woods, although i do want a bookmatched flamed maple top. The price i stated is just a rough guide, i'd stretch to maybe 1500-1600€, But once i have my design finalised i'll shop around for the best quote. I'm really going for a sort of Micheal Tobias approach to the bass and that is to have the electronics of the bass quite transparent and allot the natural sound of the woods of the bass to give me my tone. More suggestions and ideas are more than welcome!
Kiwi
Talk to Prometeus in the Affiliates forum? He seems very good value for money although I haven't tried any of his instruments. Quick turnaround time too compared to most luthiers. Spoombung
Yep, another recommendation for Alan at ACG. He loves that singlecut stuff.
