Registering with the PPL

Just had a go at registering the ISRC codes with the PPL, what a ball ache, then I got to thinking we use a Digital Aggregator to collect our pitiful royalty earnings, so is there any point?

Yes, definitely. In Knock Off we did (and they still do) everything legit, registered business, accountant etc and we received some nice sums via this. It is a ball ache both setting it up and the continual input from what I understand but worth it in the long run.

It is indeed a complete ball-ache. We’ve hardly earned anything from it either, but it has to be done, unfortunately.

As the others have said, a complete pain to sort out - especially the first time when it all can appear very daunting. When I was registering my first release I made extensive use of the telephone help line to work out which bits definitely need to be filled in (and how) and which bits I could sadly ignore.

If it's for a self-released record/CD make sure that you register both as a record label and as a musician. Luckily you only need to fill in the information once in your record label capacity.
