Stumbled on this archive by John K, whilst looking at some potential bass overdrives,  some real interesting stuff, plus  lots of soundsamples.

I've been eyeing up his Govn'r od someone is selling on ebay for ages... Been on there for a couple of years, £300 though.

He makes some cracking peds, deals in classic basses as well I think 🤔

Yeah his stuff is crazy cool, I stumbled on the site looking up info on old peavey amps. People were talking about how they love the sound of certain amps, but not the weight - so someone pointed out John K had made the sound of said amps, in pedal form.

I have one of his builds:

mini-XO (homestead.com)

Built in crossover so the drive just affects the highs!

I was going to buy that on here.... What's it like?

It's great for really heavy distortion, but not so great for low gain drive - it's pretty filthy even at low gain! Sounds like a RAT or OCD type of sound, but unlike most of those pedals, the crossover keeps the lows solid whilst also reducing the lows being fed to the distortion side to keep it tight sounding!

It'll be back on the classifieds soon though along with most of my collection, some variant of Sansamp is all I really need and use!
