Foureyes Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Hi all. I’ve just started to teach my lad how to play, he’s loving it so far, doing well and it’s really helping to bring him out of his shell (He’s very quiet and lacks self confidence in a lot of things). He’s fallen in love with my ashdown rig, the wife and neighbours haven’t. So I’m trying to track down a mini rig for him to use a as a practice amp. if anyone knows of one for sale or any where that still has some old stock any information would be greatly appreciated cheers all! 1 Quote
alexa3020 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Would a rootmaster head be better? Nice and small but powerful enough to gig with if that ever becomes an option. pair it with a decent 10” speaker and that’s a great home setup. Add another 10” cab and again you’re ready to gig. Used RM heads are fairly common to see in market place 1 Quote
Foureyes Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 @alexa3020 I like the forward thinking! And that could possibly be a better idea. I was originally thinking about the mini rig to try and keep costs down. But I’ll have a look at the root master! Thank you for the suggestion 😀 1 Quote
TheGreek Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 You can get a very useable Ashdown EVO 180w combo for under £100 and he'll be able to use this to gig with.....Ashdown probably the best Customer Service in the Universe. 1 Quote
Foureyes Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) @TheGreek a combo was my first thought but I think he just wants a head and a cab, so he can feel like the people he looks up to, don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to spoil him or whatever. I’m just trying to be as supportive as I can as playing the bass seems to be doing him a lot of good in so many way. Edited December 13, 2020 by Foureyes 3 Quote

Well worth a try as already mentioned they are probably the most customer focused company out there. Why not stick a post in the Wanted section down below. You never know your luck. Quote
Reggaebass Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 If it helps, I’m planning on going to Ashdown at the end of next week, if you want me to look at anything specific just let me know 🙂 3 Quote
la bam Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 RM also has a headphone socket and aux socket so he can play along to his favourite tracks without disturbing anyone too. 1 Quote

Foureyes Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 @la bam cheers for the input mate. That’d make things easier! If I can’t find a mini rig I think this is probably the way to go! Quote
pete.young Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Have you had a look at the Ampeg Micro-CL, similar concept. 1 Quote

Nicko Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 It depends what you are looking for. I have an Ashdown Mi10 cabinet which is plenty loud enough for small gigs. I guess you could pair it with a Newt pedal amp if you really want but it should be with a Mi220 head. Neither setup would stop him bothering the neighbours though. If you are interested in the Mi10 PM me as I don't use it anymore. Quote
BassBunny Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Would this be ok? Nothing to do with me. Just spotted on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2021619271425879/permalink/2794204017500730/?sale_post_id=2794204017500730 1 Quote

pete.young Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Pretty sure that's a guitar amp, not a bass mini-rig. The original version of the mini-rig did have two separate 10" speakers, but it didn't look like that. It was called the Perfect 10, here's an old thread with a picture. 1 Quote
