I have been ripped off (by Mick Mason of Leicester - Facebook scammer/thief)

Seriously, when are the authorities going to do something about him? How many more people need to be scammed and ripped off by Mick the Pond Life before they take action? He needs locking up for the good of other people. I wish nothing but the worst for that low life.

They won't do anything. You can get locked up for writing something on facebook, but not for using it as a platform to rob people. Makes sense.

Good point, maybe someone should hack his account and write “I like Winston Churchill”, he’ll soon be doing five.

Perhaps a few of the victims could get together and contact Watchdog. See if the police can be shamed into some sort of action.

Lets not descend into the frothing gammon bait nonsense of "going to prison for Facebook posts", obviously you can't incite violence, murder, call for a building with people in it to be set ablaze etc on any platform. This has been law in this country for a long time so the "these days" stuff doesn't work either.

Although our police are an absolute joke and are unwilling to pursue anything that will take them longer than half an hour (unless it's a personal vendetta, in which case they'll direct all public resources to it) the other issue here is that Facebook refuse to work with the police in most cases. A friend of mine I was in a band with (he's on here) with was ripped off by Mick, our guitarist at the time was a DI (now retired) and he said unless it's a public post FB won't co-operate at all, so screenshotting FB messages is going to give the police the out they need when it comes to doing a bit of work.

The worst thing about all of this is that Mick isn't even a good scammer, he's just repeating the most basic routine every time and getting away with it. The best thing to do is just compile all the evidence of scams and forward it to every venue he gigs at, every company he works with and everyone commenting on his posts. Maybe set up a "Ripped off by Mick Mason" FB group and target him on the same platform he uses to target others, cut him off at the source.

I suspect if he upscaled he’d quickly find himself propping up a new building somewhere, so while it appears basic I imagine his MO lies somewhere between ‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ and ‘Don’t start fights you might not win’. I suspect that he’s probably slightly shrewder than he seems 😕

After 4 years of this thread, it does seem that nobody is going to do anything legally to stop him. That's amazing isn't it? Should we all take up scamming as a "side hustle" knowing that if we keep it low tech and under a certain value we'll be fine and nobody will arrest us?

I still can't believe that he's not been assaulted by someone he's done over. Surely, (at least statistically speaking) he has rode his luck somewhat and the more he does this the more likely it is to happen by ripping off exactly the wrong person at the wrong time.

There is a certain kind of person that will dish out their own justice over being scammed a couple of hundred pound... but this scumbag relies on the fact that they are far and few between and he does it remotely, whereby he has a level of immunity due to someone having to travel distances.  However, he will run out of luck one day.  I would certainly go out of my way to grass him up if I see one of his shows advertised local to me and I'd be sure to be declaring things via social media (that he can't delete).

Well - he's met the musicians he's ripping off.

Does he ever meet them again 'after' he has ripped them off?  I'm assuming 100% of these people don't know his story when they work with/for him... and then get ripped off!  :/

I think so.

What a dreadful oily turd he is, and the brass balls he must have to repeat his fraudulent activities over and over again and again, and then brazenly appearing on stage on a seemingly regularly basis too. A truly crooked individual to the core. He must have a lovely tapestry at home with all the stitch ups he's carried out..

I can only hope, when he does get his comeuppance (in what ever format that could be) that it is in the public forum and we can all rejoice together.
