BassAdder60 Posted December 21, 2020 Share Posted December 21, 2020 Some may recall I was looking for a new rig and I found an 18 month old PF800 and purchased a new PF115LF cab Getting some great sounds but sadly only at home which limits the chance to play loud. At home things always sound different to band practice times, more things vibrate etc etc Im looking for some guidance on two points tone and failure risk ! Tone I’m after with my PBass played finger style is punchy for rock. I agree keep ultra low out as it sucks the mids too much. I don’t want a boomy mushy sound Regarding early stories of PF Amps cutting out I’m running it most days for a couple of hours at home to see any signs of shutdown but not at high volume of course! Finally the fan is whisper quiet too Hopefully I made a good choice The cab is lovely and has a warm full sound and is pretty light for it’s size. Lozz196 Posted December 21, 2020 Share Posted December 21, 2020 On my PF500 I engaged the Ultra Low, left all the rest of the eq at midday, and had compression at 10 o’clock, gain at 2 o’clock (set to the light flashing as per the manual). Ive tried both ( isolated it sounds lovely ) not sure if it’s good with a rock band though unless you boost 800hz ( pos 3 ) ??
