...play in a rock band at Wembley stadium. From as far back as I can remember, from seeing maybe Live Aid, I don't know. But that's what I wanted to do.

And watching INXS LiveBabyLive on iPlayer, yes I'd have some of that :D  Look at the crowd shot at about 15 secs.

... be an archaeologist.

And given how antiquated, heavy and out of date some of my bass gear is, I'd say I've pretty much almost achieved my youthful goal! 😁

Pretty much the same as @Marvin be in a band. Never had any aspirations to any specific venues, just after seeing the “live” bit in Bohemian Rhapsody I knew that’s what I wanted to do.

Be Stirling Moss

Drive a bulldozer.

I suppose those twin ambitions would make a very passable Charles Leclerc. There were no musical role models when I was a youngster.

Depends how old you define ‘kid’ in my case.

pre-teen I wanted to be a scientist or something.

Teens I wanted to be a rock star.

Now I work in IT which is like a cross between the two ..... right?

Be a Smurf.

Apparently when I was very young my grandparents gave my brother and I a coin each to throw in a wishing well. I wished I was a Smurf while my brother kept the money as it was a waste throwing it in a well.

Roll on nearly half a century and I'm not a Smurf and he's got more money than me.

There's a lesson in there boys and girls.

I’m a rock  star (in my field, I’m the only Java coder in a company that really needs Java and in investing heavily in it. I also understand data, monitoring and mainframes all of which they use, and I’m quite handy at nailing unrelated software together and making it work)

when I was younger I wanted to be a porn star; I hadn’t realised that the girls are the stars

I wanted a dog , which we got.

A bit later into school leaving age, i wanted to be a train driver.  I failed when they found out i was colour blind.

I decided on an engineering apprenticeship after that

Depressing, I know, but I can’t remember having any particular ambitions as a child.

But I was in a ‘group’ (band) at 15 in 1962, “Vince Pinkerton and the Lawmen”.

Thank goodness I had a kind Dad, with a car, as taking a drum kit on the ‘bus wasn’t really feasible..........

On a more serious note i always wanted to be a truck driver.

Probably because my Dad drove trucks up until i started school at 5 yrs old and i used to go with him and later he drove buses part time so went with him at weekends.

I became an Instrument Technician instead.

My Dad was originally an aircraft artificer in Fleet Air Arm so i guess i followed in his footsteps becoming an engineer .

That’s a great gig too.

Ended up being a journalist - the least exciting of the three possibilities.

At school I wanted to be a doctor but unfortunately there was no money available for me to do it, my first job was a steeplejack, then I trained as a carpenter and joiner which I did for 30 years, and I now work for the Nhs 🙂

As a kid I wanted to be either a vet or the next Ray Harryhausen. Then I wanted to be a comic artist. Teens,, rock star.

First ambition I ever had was to be a lighthouse keeper.

It seemed a wonderfully romantic proposition.

Out on a small wave beaten rock, miles from anyone. Bliss.

Perhaps not a 'normal' dream for a very young boy, but there you go.

I always wanted to be a train driver when I was a child, on a NS ICM train (until recently commonly known as the "Koploper") specifically.

They were called Koploper (headwalker?) because the trains could be coupled together, and the doors in the front and rear of the connecting trains could be opened so you could literally walk from train to train. This feature was removed from 2005 to reduce weight and costs. I always found them fascinating as a child xD

Koploper

Whilst I feel ashamed to admit it, I was never a koploper, and just wanted to compose and teach electronic music.
Sadly, in real life I got to compose and teach electronic music.
But in my defence: I did get out of it!

Edit:
Forgot to realise most of you guys won't know that "Koploper" (train) is derived from "koploper" (roughly: "front runner").
Twasn't a train I wasn't; twas a front runner I wasn't, though admittedly I wasn't a train either. 😀Pfffff.
