DylanB Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Any idea which electric bass Dave Swift was playing last night on Jools for the Celeste performance? Sounded really really good (as he always does of course). Quote
wateroftyne Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 According to his FB post, it's an Ibanez BTB 1906SM. 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Looks like it could possibly be this one Quote

Dov65 Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 He's a true gent, always willing to answer any queries about his gear or who he's played with i've asked a few times & always had a reply he's endorsed by Ibanez 3 Quote

It’s almost identical to the one he used last night on the Hootenanny, but the 1606 has Nordstrand pickups whereas the 1906 from last night has Aguilars. Edited January 1, 2021 by CameronJ 1 Quote
4000 Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 I chatted to him down the Gallery the other year and he was saying how he’d always loved Ibanez basses. IIRC he collected older ones. 1 Quote
DylanB Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 My position has always been that having the same bass as another player won’t make me sound like that player, so why am I now doing searches for used Ibanez basses? 🤔 2 Quote

HazBeen Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 The BTB will not make you sound like Dave Swift, but they are cracking basses for the money. Even the “cheaper” versions. 3 Quote

AndyTravis Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 That version of Lets Dance was ace. I had an older BTB 676 and although I never got to grips with it and sold after about 2 months, it was a great bass. Quote
AndyTravis Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 This red one is a one off and he’s hinted that it could be a prototype for a sig model. 3 Quote

Tom Jones was surprisingly good though, his voice has held up really well for 80. Quote

I agree with Let's Dance, I was sat watching it and thinking to myself "that is a really cool arrangement" and then the Mrs pipes up "I know this", followed by 30 seconds of guessing and then "her voice is awful for this song" Bubble burst, moment gone! Really enjoyed the live studio stuff, it seemed like they all put in a "I really miss doing this" shift... I know the feeling! Quote

I really enjoyed it. 🤷🏻♂️👍🏼 1 Quote
gjones Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 I see Dave Swift had his vibrating platform with him, to give him the 8x10 experience without the volume. Quote
