Reggaebass
Ive put a few bids in and I’ve had lots of jazzes , and to my knowledge they have all had either US or M serial numbers on the back of the headstock, this one has the 60s logo but nothing on the back , any thoughts 🙂https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Jazz-Bass-Guitar-Used-/313364930017?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292

Reggaebass
Just now, nilebodgers said: They aren't mexi fender, I just had a look at mine. So did I 😁, mine don’t have the top corners angled on the plate
nilebodgers
The "waist" in the part of the peg below the cloverleaf sits in the wrong place for current squiers though, it is over wood on those and in air on the ebay bass. I think it's a no-name bitsa, not a Fender or Squier at all.
ped
Is it just me or does the body look a bit slab sided too?
AndyTravis
Why do these questionable (I.e. Fake) fenders always come from house clearances? Not a Fender of any format. 1

Yeah absolutely Andy 👍, and you’ve confirmed what I thought about it being not being genuine, I thought I would have a stab at it for a few quid as a project just to leave in my summerhouse but not now, btw , I like your avatar pic☝️

It’s a catch-all lie rather than having to invent a convincing story.

Precisely - that is the seller's disclaimer...
prowla
Oops - posted the same as the one before me... This is why buying a used "Fender" is a minefield; everyone who puts a "Fender" logo on a non-Fender bass is potentially contributing to it being taken for a real one at some point in its future.. ash
The seller will feign ignorance no doubt. It’s got a lot of bids for at best a bitsa.

Reggaebass
It’s been relisted as a copy , https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Jazz-Bass-Guitar-Used-/313366132081?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 Edited January 1, 2021 by Reggaebass
gjones
No photo of truss rod access on the headstock. If it's natural then it's an Affinity Squier, or a cheapo copy.
prowla
It’s still not fit to sell in that state.
Doctor J
If you look at the light shining on the headstock, that's a lumpy spray-can finish, clear as day.
