alembic1989
I have my 6 string bass strung E-E with 100 as the thickest..the thinnest being around .020. I want to try some black nylon strings the equivalent of what I already have..I realise they’ll be thicker. Do they make nylon strings light enough for my needs? ambient
I had a set of the LaBella black nylons, they were lovely. I can’t remember what gauge they were though. Bass Direct sell them.
Woodwind
may I slightly hijack this to ask how you both describe the sound of black nylon strings?
TheGreek
If you have 2+2 length (I know it's a 6er) then Status medium length (the long scale are out of stock) 40-100s will work. They don't work on a 4 in line due to the length of the G string. I think D'Addario sell individual strings - you may be able to get a custom set from them. @Woodwind here's a video comparison of flatwounds-v-tapewounds.
