Sammybass Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 So then! I play in a VH tribute band and I wanted to build something along those lines. It's a bit of a combination of Eddie's Frankenstrat, Mikey's PJ BB's and P basses, and Wolfie's blue striped Jazz.Ā More details as it progressesĀ š 9 Quote

Can you still get black mirror scratchplates? That would be epic.Ā Quote
Geek99 Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 It canĀ alwaysĀ be tort, anything else is inferior and cheapĀ 2 Quote
Maude Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 A mirror scratchplate with a bullet hole type smash radiating out from the P pickup would suit.Ā But I'm sure @Sammybasshas a plan. The neck is gorgeous too.Ā 1 Quote
Sammybass Posted January 10, 2021 Author Posted January 10, 2021 Light relicingĀ and chopped-down scratch plate fitted today.Ā 2 Quote

NancyJohnson Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 I did a Wolfie about ten years ago.Ā I loved the process and the ultimate reveal. The body was a nasty plywood Jazz thing that someone was selling for about Ā£20, it had these nasty big rough chiselled out routs.Ā I put an MM unit in the neck position and a J in the bridge.Ā I forget the neck, Allparts second/third hand.Ā I remember the E string ferrel for the machinehead had clearly been forced into the hole and was vaguely ovalish and didn't turn properly.Ā It was all just wired together with one volume control on a chrome bell plate.Ā Worked to a fashion, sounded OK when pushed through a dirtbox.Ā Gigged once (see below) and then broken apart for parts.
