They give a very clear sound & fairly uncoloured. Encouraging ....

This reads as if you're playing your bass through the monitors and recording the result (with a mic, I presume...). Is that really the case..? It's far more common to either play the bass directly into the DAW or recorder and add Fx as required, or play through an amp-cab and capture the result with a mic (very often both are done at once ...). I'd say that it's quite unusual to use monitors as a source signal for recording bass, or anything else. Apart from not doing the monitors any good, they are not designed for that. Maybe I've mis-understood (it wouldn't be the first time ...).

I am planning to play out through my mixing desk ...my question was are the lp-6 monitors man enough to cope with a bass guitar as a replacement for say the double four? ...if I do get the double four I would still take the di from it into the desk, I personally can’t see a huge advantage to ever miking the speaker for bass. just seems like the double four is essentially a small bookshelf monitor ...so why duplicate? xgsjx
I don't mic my cab. Bass > pedalboard > interface > DAW > Interface > LP6. I've never used my rig for about 2 years.

xgsjx
No, but I use an octaver. Synth goes lower than low B too.
