itu Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Where did you got yours, and what was the approximate price? Steve's shop is so far away... Quote
n.d.escher Posted January 11, 2021 Author Posted January 11, 2021 I bought it from Steve. IR in Australia. Had a one year wait, inklusive shipping. 1 Quote
bloke_zero Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Amazing tracking - thanks for the video! Quote
Hellzero Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) Tracking has (almost) no latency because the frets (each fret is divided in three) are sensing the string. Wal and Peavey used this patented system too. 😉 Check here : https://industrialradio.com.au/ Edited January 13, 2021 by Hellzero Link added Quote
bloke_zero Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 I know - but it's super cool to see it in action! The closest I ever got was overdriving my bass out into a square wave and then using that to drive the sync input of a VCO - it worked but it wasn't pretty! It looks like a great system. Quote

Maybe not understand you, my friend! As far as I have seen these basses, they are usually divided to four parts each, but yes, there are three dividers per fret... Split-fret system, lots of wires under the fretboard... Edited January 12, 2021 by itu Quote
Hellzero Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 You got it @itu : there are indeed 4 parts with 3 dividers. Sometimes I should not be so twisted and talk like everybody. 1 Quote
n.d.escher Posted January 12, 2021 Author Posted January 12, 2021 The best thing of this technic is, that you can play all kinds of hammer pull on pull off and slides, even tapping. All is being track with the same latncy of 3 ms. Check out one of my other videos: 2 Quote
BigRedX Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 It's a fantastic system, and IMO the only serious contender for controlling MIDI synths from a bass guitar without noticeable latency. I've been a big fan since the Peavey version cam out. It's a pity that the current incarnation is not available in a more interesting looking instrument or available to be fitted into a bass made by the luthier of your choice. Quote
Owen Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 I had a Peavey one and it was going to be my one bass to rule all the basses and all that malarkey that I tell myself every time I buy something new. Obviously the tracking was the bomb, but it was a horrible instrument to play. It just felt naff. Obviously I regret selling it. Quote
bloke_zero Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 (edited) Yeah, it's kind of as if instead of a delorean you used a model T to house the time machine! 8 minutes ago, BigRedX said: It's a pity that the current incarnation is not available in a more interesting looking instrument Edited January 13, 2021 by bloke_zero Quote
n.d.escher Posted January 13, 2021 Author Posted January 13, 2021 Hi, the IR is a fantastic bass on it´s own without the Midi-function. It sounds great and is super smooth playble. I would buy and play it, even without the Midi-Part. Quote

Quatschmacher Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 20 months waiting so far. Apparently my pickups have now arrived and my bass is third in the queue… 3 Quote

GisserD Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 not just lack of contact, but if he told you were 3rd in the queue.... then its just bare faced LIES! Quote
petebassist Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Godins A4 & A5 also come with Midi output. Quote
bloke_zero Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 These have additional sensors in the frets which solve pitch tracking issues (determining pitch from audio takes a few cycles to workout - having a sensor on the fret makes it instant). I'd assume the Godin don't have that. Which is why these basses are so sought after. 1 Quote
