Tell me more about the crappy neck?

I have made a few references now to how disappointed I was when I felt the necks on these. Gritty, rough and cheap feeling.

Yeah but possibly something that can be easily sorted with a bit of extremely fine sandpaper? You're much more expert on that sort of thing than me.

Well, at £700-£800, that’s a bit crap isn’t it. Hence the “crappy” neck quip.

shame, the Jackson C5P I had for years absolutely had one of the nicest necks I’ve ever played.

The rest of the stuff seemed good on paper.

At the end of the day I'd love a Spector with a reverse PJ set up on 5 string (EMGs plus 35" scale) but they can't be arsed to bring one out, so this is a poor man's alternative and entirely appropriate therefore it has a rough 'red neck' 😁

Now just £575 at GAK. Defo not so crap at that price.

And as you say, the rest of it looks very good on paper.

Well. I think £575 should come with a decent finish. I also hasten to add that the pickguards looked like they’d been cut with a butter knife while blindfolded.

Maybe the 2 I saw were Friday afternoon jobs.

but they Undid the desire for me there and then.

Just Jan sales.

I've seen a couple of Sandberg Panthers on for £1.5k and not the usual £2.2k - nothing to do with quality, just stuff not shifting with what's going on.

I picked up my Spector in some Anderton sales in 2019 and was lucky to get for a great price.

Also, wonder why they’re not £700+ anymore 🤔😏

Plus £ has gone up, highest it's been for a while at $1.35, was at $1.20 in Aug 2019 when these came out.

On paper I think they look really good, and have been tempted myself, but am reluctant to go “5” until I need to.

They do a four string version of course, Lozz.

My mate (the one who now owns my old ‘76 Ric) had one of those, in that colour. It was quite nice IIRC.

It's Fender's design team at their best, take a random selection of parts out of the bin and make s guitar out of it.

I just cannot believe someone if not a group of people round the table signed off on this.

It’s not even a “swing and a miss.”

It’s just god awful. So so stupid.

Ah well, it’s kept me busy tonight...

It's like the FA Cup draw. They pull a few numbers out of a bag, see what parts the numbers correspond to and screw it together. Hey presto! Parallel pawn shop universe thing!!!
