Bilbo Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 (edited) Rumours are circulating that Vanilla Fudge bassist Tim Bogert has died, aged 76. Anyone in a position to confirm? Edited January 14, 2021 by wateroftyne 3 Quote
peteb Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 His Wikipedia page has said that he has died, but no there is mention of cause of death or whatever. Quote
NickD Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 Both Billy Sheehan and Tony Franklin put up tributes this morning, and I understand Billy and Tim were friends. Quote
peteb Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 (edited) Other tributes online from Mike Portnoy, Carmine Appice, etc. Apparently he died of cancer. Edited January 14, 2021 by peteb Quote
Hellzero Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 And his (band) mate Carmine Appice too, so sadly this seems to be true. May he rest in peace. Tim Bogert, Vanilla Fudge and Cactus Bassist, passes away at 76 (devdiscourse.com) Quote
Geek99 Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 I’ve got his bass video; he chose to use a six string, which was very confusing for a beginner Quote
Paul S Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 A giant of a bass player. He figured so prominently in so many bands I love. Quote
madshadows Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 Very sad news, another great passes John Quote
Cuzzie Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 Sad indeed - loved him in Cactus - guy had groove for days Quote
Chezz55 Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 That's a shame. Tim Bogert's solo in ' Break Song' on side 2 of 'Near The Beginning' is a cracker. Also the 'Beck, Bogert and Appice' version of Superstition is something special. RIP Tim Bogert - an inspiration for me. Quote
