doctor_of_the_bass
Hallo! Lets start this one off with my wonderful Alembic 20th Anniversary model - the chocolate bass!!! Burl walnut!! Allegedly, the root wood used to construct the facings of this bass would have cost Alembic around £30K according to the father of the former owner of this bass guitar. My other Alembic is a very old Series I LS (long scale) with the `point' body, seen here alongside some other cuties! BassBod
[attachment=12522:DSCN0737.JPG] Here's my modest Epic - great all-rounder, with simple but superb sounding electronics...but it still sometimes reminds me of an 80's Aria......or Westone. ped
Here is an Elan 6 I used to own, very nice it was too! Do you want a sound clip? ped
doctor_of_the_bass
Ped! A good friend of mine owned a very similar bass - where and when did you purchase said Alembe !? Many thanks! N

I think my mate, Jon Ridel may well have sold the bass to Ben - it was originally up for sale up at Electro in Doncaster - assuming its the same bass! ped
Yes that rings a bell. Ben (or Alemboid to you and me) may well be able to confirm that. Superb bass but I didn't get on with it very well live, it was great in the studio though. I think another Q filter would have worked wonders, the single one was a bit limiting. merci et parlez bientôt ped
doctor_of_the_bass
Et tu, mon ami! I recall that it weighed a tonne! Very well made though as per all Alembic instrumentes!
ped
Yeah it really did weigh a lot. In fact I remember playing it sitting down and my leg felt a bid dead!

Kiwi
Right-o. well here's mine as seen in a few threads already. And one of it in action with its previous owner. I won't put the Elan 6 in because Ped's already beaten me to it.
doctor_of_the_bass
Awesome! Looks as though it might have had newer pickups fitted to it at some stage? Nick

The ceramic magnets in the old pickups had apparently weakened to the point where it made sense to get them replaced.
doctor_of_the_bass
..actually sir, tis the logoage on said pickups that caught mine eyne! (sorry - doing bass for an adaptation of a Midsummer Night's Dream in theatre this week!)

ped
So what's best - 'Lembic or 'Jaydee?
marcus bell
Jaydee all the way, i think its the perfect slap bass...the alembic is weird it sounds great on its own but seems to get lost in a band situation, also it seems to sound better played fingerstyle. just my opinion though...both beautiful instruments! marcus
Soliloquy
This was my Stanley bass, I sold it a few years ago now, what a mistake. I wasn't playing it too often though, I was concentrating on my 6 string playing, and a bass like this needs to be played. I will get another someday though, for definite !. You really could pass it off as new! Lovely!! I'll get a Series II soon, don't worry!
