ash
Haven’t we debated this one before? That logo is a more modern Ibanez one surely. Kay with an Ibanez decal? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-bass-1970s-lawsuit/224320770209?hash=item343a8f50a1%3Ag%3Au~kAAOSwGB1gBdZu&LH_ItemCondition=3000
Bassassin
I've certainly seen a P copy with that style of Ibanez sticker on before, might've been the same one, but not necessarily. This looks like a recent-ish cheapo P knockoff, or maybe a bitsa - it has a truss cutout on the scratchplate but clearly adjusts at the head, so maybe a modern neck on an older body. Overpriced by £200, anyway. 1

baldwinbass
Judging by the proximity of the fire, it's probably got a 'roasted' maple neck too!

Doctor J
Please note that this is a brand new serious quality neck as the fingerboard had lifted beyond repair on the original it came with when I bought it.
Kev
Yeah was about to say he does say the neck isn't original. I mean, £260 is crazy, but I can't imagine anyone looking for a "Lawsuit" bass will go for this. And it weighs 15.5lb, which may make it the heaviest bass I've ever heard of! Although the 14.5lb Warwick bass made of solid ebony held that record, so I seriously doubt this bass weighs heavier than that, given its construction. Cant be over 5KG or so. tauzero
I want to know the diet that bass went on, it's down to 5kg now (whatever that is in quaint).
Maude
"This is an Ibanez 1970's lawsuit bass. Stunning build quality, better than the Fenders at the time, hence their popularity and the lawsuit from Fender." Arrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhh!!!!!!! 🤬🤬🤬

Quote "Stunning build quality" Quote "... as the fingerboard had lifted beyond repair on the original" Maybe not such great build quality, then. Quote So here is one of my wife's bass guitars. Bassassin
Having actually been bothered to look at the pics, I'm confident that no-one will either be surprised (or care!) that I think I know what this was. Before it was a bitsa with a cheapo Chinese neck, crappy tuners & Ebay knockoff sticker, it was an Italian-made Melody 5000. Check out the oddly bulbous lower horn, square truss access & skinny neckplate: https://best-vintage-guitars.de/melody_precision_bass_italy.html Ashytrays aren't standard & f*** knows what's under them - although 'demarzios' weren't standard on either Ibanez or Melody P copies. I suppose the body grain's quite nice though. A decent Melody 5000 would probably be £100-£150. Seen a few with split bodies/necks so likely that's the case here. 2
