bass_dinger
My treble tone control on my active Washburn XB500 is loose. Having inspected it, I see that the whole pot is loose. I think that I need to tighten the bolt that fastens the post to the body. However, I cannot remove the tone control from the shaft of the pot. There is no grub screw to fasten the knob to the shaft, so, it may be a friction fit. However, it does not want to move! Any advice?
jrixn1
Use a small spoon to lever the knob up; perhaps one spoon on each side. Put a cloth down first to protect the top of the bass.
Andyjr1515
Or feed the edge of a thin duster or old T-shirt under the knob and wrap it/twist it around a touch so that you are getting even tension all around then pull firmly but steadily the twisted fabric directly upwards.

I do sometimes doubt my choice - green basses are uncommon enough for me to wonder if they are generally disliked. However, I decided long ago that I personally like it enough not to mind. I will try to Two Spoons method tonight. And tomorrow, I will start a thread headed "Safe attachment of a tight tone control . . . "
