BassAdder60
Hi folks I’m looking at trying Jamkazam with my remote music buddies I’ve set up my Behringer U2 interface and now need advice on how to connect my bass to the interface 1: direct into Audio Interface ? 2: DI from bass amp to Audio Interface Anyone got any suggestions please Also I will be listening through headphones connected to the Audio Interface
pineweasel
Either will work, so it depends on convenience and which you prefer the sound of. Using your amp DI will give you the characteristic tone of the amp and let you use its controls for EQ, distortion, etc, assuming the DI output is post preamp. Bigguy2017
DI from the amp to the U2 will allow use of the EQ on the amp (what amp?) - bass direct may sound a bit thin. Do a test recording using both methods and see which you prefer...
BassAdder60
The amp is the Ashdown Rm800 EVO II
Bigguy2017
Use the DI - balanced XLR to Behringer XLR input - you then have the Ashdown's excellent EQ and compression.
hiram.k.hackenbacker
I always go direct into the interface. Sounds just fine to me.
BassAdder60
You say direct but are you using Jamkazam as I don’t have any plug ins ?

Yeah I found adding the plug-ins quite complicated. I assume they mean standalone rather than through a DAW? The other quite important thing to note is that you're not supposed to use WiFi but rather LAN direct into your router from your PC/Mac to avoid latency. TBH I have used wiFi and its been ok if you're near to a router or TP-Link type extension socket, but if you can go direct from PC to router you'll have less problems. Bass straight into the interface and using JamKazam. No plug-in's either. Edited January 26, 2021 by hiram.k.hackenbacker
BassAdder60
Yep I’m able to connect direct to my router with the Ethernet cable and all tested with JK as acceptable latency etc

Sorry to seem dense - but I am. When you say interface, is that a physical thing? I’m a complete recording novice but intending to get into it.
