la bam
Hi all, Any experience playing these? They seem to be quite highly rated at a decent price. Decent colours and spec too.
TheGreek
PM @aDx - he had one - spoke very highly of it. Sold it to go short scale only.
stewblack
Superb. I think technically speaking mine is a Detroit. But is that the same thing? Anywho, I have two from the Bass Collection range and both are keepers, no question.
Munurmunuh
The Detroit is 43mm nut, the Power 40mm. Same 1st / 12th fret thicknesses though, 20mm / 22mm.

Ah, thank you - I didn't realise. I tend towards a wider neck, but I have to be honest I don't really mind.
la bam
Picked one up this weekend. What a bass! Superb build quality. Lovely playability and sound. Great weight - substantial, but not heavy. Balances very well. This seems to be either a custom build or an anomaly. It's an orange body, with a maple neck, labelled power bass. From what I can tell, they never did the power bass in an orange finish, and never did an orange body with a maple neck? Anywho, it's such a lovely bass. It just feels right.

umcoo
I picked one up for a guitarist buddy who wanted something to record with. £200 used, lightweight, classic P tones, had a great colour too....burgundy mist-esque. Fantastic bass, and not just for its price range.

After I posted that I thought, in your shoes I would write to them with yorkie serial number, asking for whatever info they've got. The hard case isn't standard either. Is the pickguard mint? As always, I'm loving the combo of bright finish, light pg and maple fingerboard

The pickguard is a kind of faded white colour.
Munurmunuh
My autocorrect apologies for "yorkie". I'm not aware of my ever having used that word this millennium 🤷♂️
la bam
In fact, you may be right - it may be a very light pale mint green scratchplate.
la bam
Turns out after confirmation from the bass centre this is one of their John Entwistle tribute Frankenstein basses. Love it.

Love it. The "salmon pink" looks rather more interesting in your photo than in the stock photo! Does it have, as advertised, "an authentic growling tone"? 😊 Edited February 18, 2021 by Ricky Rioli
la bam
It really does growl! And the salmon pink is definitely orange!
TheGreek
I was tempted by one on Gumtree earlier - bought back one of my old Bass Collection Nanyos instead....
PaulThePlug
That Salmon Pink is luverly... Had one of the '80s Squier '57 Strats in Salmon Pink with Mapel... Edited May 8, 2021 by PaulThePlug
la bam
The pick ups on this bass are awesome. I've since bought a standard power bass and they pick ups are definitely different, much more powerful and growly in this bass and this bass definitely feels more substantial.
