Talking of Bop......... From Ed (Pete) Peterson at Omega Studios in DC area. "Pete went to the Manhattan School of Music in the early 1960s and studied trumpet with William Vacchiano. Vacchiano was big on teaching trumpet students to transpose various parts for variously pitched trumpet parts. Apparently Miles Davis (the famous jazz trumpeter) studied briefly with Vacchiano in the 1950's. One lesson, Vacchiano was teaching Miles and asked, "If the piano is in the key of E, where does that put the trumpet?" Miles replied, "Back in the fu*king case!" Hector
Great site. So many ways you can use this - reading practice that's fun, increasing your vocabulary, analyse the licks for better understanding.....the list goes on!
