Crawford13
I don't know if anyone had put this up here before, but it's an incredible watch. Found it today and I think I have watched it atleast 10 times already. Edited February 4, 2021 by Crawford13 5
scalpy
The original has long been one of my favourites- this is great in a slightly smug music college way.
Gareth Hughes
Love it. Always worth a watch. Not the same, but this is worth watching too, IMHO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc7-aIzFSg8
NickD
I wish he'd stop playing over Bernaaard... He's just messing up the groove!
chris_b
. . . and when BP puts the shuffle together, the bassist plays everything but a shuffle!! Forget the shuffle, this is a promo for the bass player. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not the Purdy Shuffle on bass.
Guest
Favourite quote (I think from the Steely Dan vid on YT): when BErnard set up his drums he put a sign up next to the kit. “Well done. You hired the hit maker”.

My take on the video is that was exactly what he was trying to do. He wasn't trying to groove on the shuffle, he was replicating the drum shuffle on the bass.

We don't replicate vocal, keyboard, guitar or brass parts (apart from occasional and usually brief unison phrases). It's impressive, but musically pointless. lowdown
I just see it for what it is... Just a bit of fun and some 'choppy' messing around. He certainly put some work into it and had a good listen to Purdie's playing. I thought some of the verbal interaction was quite funny.
