On BBC Alba the other night, and now on iPlayer.

Barrowlands Roar, a potted history of the Barrowlands venue in Glasgow. Is a touch Scottish Trad music, not a surprise as it's on BBC Alba, and some subtitles but a good program.

Is that the Dave Fanning who I used to listen to presenting on RTE2 radio years ago?

It is. He's like our little John Peel!

Cool.

In the seventies and eighties, I used to look forward to the opening bars of The Only Ones' Another Girl another Planet that signalled the start of his program of an evening.  He had some of the best bands on.

Well done!

Sky Arts have been showing a lot of Paul Simon shows lately. Yesterday the showed the 1991 Live in Central Park. Overall, very enjoyable but he really shouldn't have done BOTW without Art! Also a couple of reworkings, Cecilia being the worst offender, were a bit naff to my ears. The band however were wonderful - Richard Tee, Steve Gadd, Michael Brecker, and Armand Sabal-Lecco showing off some great chops, and a fair collection of bass-porn!

Bob Harris is standing in on the Jonnie Walker BBC Radio 2 programme this afternoon, all the music tracks are from the year 1973, brilliant music that brings back so many great memories of my younger days.

Bob knows how to build a show. Johnnie is past it these days, sadly - and prefers the Sixties anyway.

Currently on Sky Arts - Queen Live At The Rainbow 1974.

This is from their early days when IMO they were at their best being a proper heavy rock band.

That was Dave Bronze on bass playing through the MarkBass rig, looks like EC.

The material isn’t really my thing but the musicianship from all is excellent and JB, well how he did what he did, just amazing.
