stewblack Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Just seen a FB advert for a 71 Mm Stingray for £250. Can this be right? 2 Quote

Guest Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Stringray - LOL Likely to be firewood. Or a scam. It’s not near Leicester, is it? Quote
BassTractor Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 (edited) Ah, but Stringrays do go cheaper than Stingrays. edit: @FDC484950 got there before me. Edited February 7, 2021 by BassTractor Quote
stewblack Posted February 7, 2021 Author Posted February 7, 2021 Sound investment for someone. Happy to collect it if you're too far away Quote
BassTractor Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 The way I read it, Arbor made cheap lookalikes for beginners. Dunno how Hohner got involved. Quote
jezzaboy Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 All the best Stingrays were made in China don`t ya know! Quote
Hellzero Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Urm, urm. The MusicMan Stingray was introduced in 1976 with only one pickup and a 2 bands EQ. The MusicMan Sabre was introduced in 1978 with two pickups and had also a 2 bands EQ. None had this bright green colour. Super fake ! Go away ! Quote
Hellzero Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 It's just a Hohner Arbor MX1 with a MusicMan logo, nothing else and too expensive... Check this : https://touch.adverts.ie/electric-basses/hohner-arbour-music-man-stingray-bass-copy/15377244 1 Quote
BreadBin Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 I saw that FB add too @stewblack - I get the feeling they know exactly what they are selling but are playing a bit dumb so buyers think they are getting one over them. They were selling a 'Gibson' Thunderbird for £300 too - fairly confident that's going to be an Epiphone with a truss rod cover swap. There's a Shergold headstock in most of their pictures - I'm more interested in that! Quote
casapete Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Even with the change of logo etc, the 4 in a row headstock design would surely be a giveaway to anybody with even a passing knowledge of Musicman stuff? 1 Quote
stewblack Posted February 7, 2021 Author Posted February 7, 2021 So no one wants me to go collect it on their behalf then? 1 Quote

So are you saying that apart from wrong body shape, wrong bridge, wrong pickups and 4 in a line instead of 3+1, it’s a dead ringer? Quote
stewblack Posted February 7, 2021 Author Posted February 7, 2021 (edited) You all missed your chance, she's realised her mistake, it's now £1,200.00 Edited February 7, 2021 by stewblack 3 Quote
