Paul S Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Was watching this clip and wondered about the bass - looks like a '51 style P but with 2 single coil pickups - would this have been a production model? 1 Quote
ped Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 The bridge pickup is a jazz shape so guess it's a modification? 1 Quote
PlungerModerno Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Another angle: Looks like a slab body, I don't know if they sold them with 4 saddle bridges... that might be a mod too. 1 Quote
ped Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 I'm not convinced this pickup screw is in properly 2 Quote
PlungerModerno Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Just now, ped said: I'm not convinced this pickup screw is in properly Spoiler How could they have been so reckless! Spoiler Spoiler 2 Quote
baldwinbass Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) In '76 Charlie said "I've got a Telecaster bass guitar, a Peavey box, 200 watt top. a little Phaser box, a Solo 100 Phaser, a Mutron." - and I agree it's seen some mods. Edited February 9, 2021 by baldwinbass 1 Quote
JottoSW1 Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 A pretty comprehensive selection of effects for a Bassist from way back when. Have to admit it was a Band that rather passed me by at the time. Should probably give them a try via utoob given the reputation conferred so many years later. 1 Quote
franzbassist Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 The current Squier Paranormal is rather similar, albeit a J shape body. 2 1 Quote

Yeah, I don't "get" that pickguard configuration at all, though I've heard they're pretty acceptable instruments. Must admit I still like my VM Jazz, apart from the excessive weight. 1 Quote
Hellzero Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Looks more like a 1971 Fender Telecaster Bass with an added Jazz Bass bridge pickup and a more useable Precision/Jazz bridge. 3 1 Quote
