Hi, I'm new here, I am a jazz bass player from Holland and I came across a bass I couldn't place anywhere.

It looks a bit like a Hofner or Eko bass guitar. Maybe one of you can identify it. There is also a pickguard on it with some weird angles.

If I know more I might buy it, but the weather conditions aren't that good at the moment

I had one of those - they appear regularly with about 4 or 5 different brand names on.

I’d say the pickguard is non original and replaced the factory one - mine was brittle and cracked so I presume this was commonplace

I'd think so too - this pickguard looks much too angular for the period it was probably made (1960s, Japan). The original pickguard probably matched the rounder shape of that Burns-like separate piece of pickguard on the upper horn. Also looks like the pickup may have been moved closer towards the bridge.

Here's one exactly like it, but with a more curvaceous pickguard: https://music.stackexchange.com/questions/66725/bass-identification-no-name-anywhere

Thanks LeftyJ, great tip, this one looked exactly like 'mine'. I think I 'm not going to buy it. It's on Marktplaats if you're interested, called 'gebruikte basgitaar'.

Thanks, but not really. I'm lefthanded, I couldn't play it if I wanted to
