wateroftyne Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 A deluxe edition of Stage Fright has just landed on Spotify, with new mixes and an Albert Hall show. The new mixes are significant. Someone finally found the reverb knob, and they've really brought the tunes to life. I like them. 1 1 Quote
hiram.k.hackenbacker Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 Ah, big fan of The Band here. I must give this a listen. Thanks for the tip 👍. 1 Quote
JoeyZ Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Sounds like a typical 70's rock album. Do not like this mix at all; seems like it is trying to rewrite history and make The Band into a rock outfit they weren't on this record. Find the 1994 DCC version. That sounds great, more like the first two in feel. This is very poor choice. Look at Clearmountain's credits; Rolling Stones, Pretenders, The Who, Hall & Oates. Good artists, but do any of them have anything in common with The Band? Quote
2pods Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Clearmountain totally ruined the Free remix stuff on the "Alright Now Comp. IMHO Free sounded best the way they were originally mixed. If it was bigger, I'd use the CD as a dartboard 1 Quote

If it was bigger, I'd use the CD as a dartboard Whenever ‘Alright Now’ gets played on the radio they always seem to use the Clearmountain remix version. As you say the original mix was so much better in all respects - I find the remix really annoying and disrespectful to how it once sounded. 1 Quote
