Trace Elliot silver face preamp replacement tube?

Have an opportunity to acquire a second silver face, but it needs a new tube. I think it is very similar to pic of the one I own.

Does anybody know which tube this need. Cheers

I seem to recall them having a 12ax7 in the preamp valve in the SMX series?

Yours should be the same, best contact somewhere like Watford valves (if they’re still going?)

Yep, a single 12AX7 as I recall.

An ECC83 is the same thing.

I'd be surprised if it isn't a 12ax7 / ECC83, but it will be printed on the circuit board for good measure.

And on the original valve for identification purposes,  hopefully. 

Shouldn't be hard to change if it was anything like my old SMX. Just don't handle the valve with your bare hands (as per car headlight bulbs- for more or less the same reason, I'm told)

No problem handling B9A pre-amp tubes with your fingers, They don't get hot enough for the oils on your fingers to make a difference. Even output tubes won't be bothered either. They are not like headlamp bulbs.
