Guest MoJo Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Quarter Pounder (below) Quarter Pound (no 'er') (below) For those who seem unable to differentiate 😉 Quote
TheGreek Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Easy to differentiate - the top one is actually a Quarter Pounder with cheese. 4 Quote

Newfoundfreedom Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 I need to get some of those for my McBass. Quote
Killed_by_Death Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 They got their name from the 1/4" pole pieces, I'd never noticed there's no ER on the end, because everyone puts it there. 1 Quote
mikel Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 They are both quarter pounders. The burger cos its based, or was, on a quarter pound of meat. The pickups for obvious reasons. They can both be termed quarter pounders as if you have one of either you are unlikely to say "I have a quarter pound". The answer would be, a quarter pound what? Quote
Killed_by_Death Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 (edited) I'm more pedantic than most, which has caused me a load of grief as I get older & more obsessive-compulsive, but this one isn't as bad as guitar-players constantly referring to their vibrato bridges as tremolos, or bass-players saying 'steel' when they are referring to STAINLESS steel strings. All strings designed for magnetic pickups are steel, but not all are stainless. Edited February 16, 2021 by Killed_by_Death spelling: stainless Quote

Maude Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 I have a Precision bass guitar with a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickup. I have a P bass with a Quarter Pounder. One of the above makes you sound like a tool, you choose which one. 😉 2 Quote

Maude Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 When I bought my Quarter Pound pickup there was a good second hand one for sale. The bloke said he only wanted a tenner for it, so I told him I didn't understand what he meant and bought a new one instead. 😉 Another thought as pedantry runs strong in this thread, is it 'a Precision pickup', or 'a set/pair of Precision pickups', as there's two of them?
